MEET AMY 

Your Experienced Choice for Orange County Register of Deeds

Amy McLamb has been a dedicated public servant to Orange County for over 26 years. As a lifelong resident of Orange County, Amy understands the community she serves and is committed to delivering exceptional service to every resident who walks through the Register of Deeds office doors.

Personal Connection to Orange County

Amy has deep roots in Orange County, where she has raised her family and built lasting relationships in the community. She is a proud mother to a daughter who recently turned 30 and married in August, and a devoted grandmother to a handsome grandson who will soon be 5 years old. Amy shares her home with two beloved dogs, Penelope and Bulleit.

 

Professional Experience​​

Amy's journey with the Orange County Register of Deeds began in August 1999 when she joined as a temporary employee. Her dedication and expertise quickly led to a permanent position in February 2000. Over the past two decades, Amy has:

  • Earned certification as a Deputy Register of Deeds in March 2004 through the UNC School of Government

  • Advanced to Assistant Register of Deeds in 2015

  • Worked in every section of the office, including Vital Records, document indexing and recording, and Finance/Budget

  • Overseen daily operations and supervised 10-12 staff members

  • Managed the Passport Acceptance facility since 2017

Amy maintains her professional edge through continuous education, regularly attending classes and webinars offered by:

  • UNC School of Government

  • North Carolina Association of Register of Deeds (NCARD)

  • NC State Archives

  • Orange County leadership development programs

Leadership and Management

As Assistant Register of Deeds, Amy handles crucial responsibilities that ensure the smooth operation of the office:

  • Oversees the yearly budget submission to the county manager

  • Performs annual reviews for all staff members

  • Approves credit card transactions, vendor payments, and employee timecards

  • Signs financial reports and reconciles revenue for bank deposits

  • Ensures proper staff training with a focus on excellent customer service

  • Interprets statutes and makes critical decisions for Recording, Indexing, and Vital Records

Amy's 26 years of hands-on experience in every aspect of the Register of Deeds office have prepared her to lead with confidence and expertise. She understands the challenges facing the office, the needs of Orange County residents, and the innovations necessary to serve the community efficiently and effectively.
